I was supposed to be working on the catalog. I was supposed to be writing thank-you cards. I was supposed to be doing things that are important.
But today was our monthiversary. And tonight there was a thunderstorm, which is a highly unusual meteorological event in California. We opened a bottle of champagne that our friend Dewey gave us during our rehearsal BBQ, and we opened all the doors and windows and listened to the neighborhood collectively holler each time the lightning tore across the sky.*
And after the power came back on, I made this:**
And I think that’s enough for one night.

* Being a transplant from everywhere, I find this behavior amusing. But I’ll also tell you I was the first one outside, shouting in sheer delight along with the rest of the natives. Thunderstorms here are particularly electrifying. Har! Har! Cough.
** This being a toast from one of the beau’s groomsmen. He was my beau’s first dorm roommate in college. Talk about fate, eh? All photos by my awesome friend Aaron Rosenblatt.
Adore this!
I want to make one of my own (if only I knew how!!)
Anna, it’s fairly easy in Photoshop, but of course not everyone has Photoshop. There are some sites out there like http://gickr.com/ that will create animated .gifs for you from your Flickr or Picasa photos, but they have image limits (Gickr has 10, for instance).
OMG! I love this a shit ton!
oh and that shrug looked fabulous.
that is badass!
So maybe I just watched that straight through like ten times? LOVE IT!
Love it! Looks like it must have been a great speech.
And I love thunderstorms too. Unfortunately I think thunderstorm season has passed here. I love how everything seems so much more exciting with thunder and lightning.
It’s mesmerizing. Also, I’m really impressed at how many shots you must have had to get the animation to work so well.
I think it amounted to somewhere around 60 shots for this 10-second mini-movie. Our friend is a photojournalist by trade, so a heavy trigger finger is in his blood. He gave us about, I dunno, 2,000 shots of the wedding? While scrolling through the image thumbnails I saw many, many potential mini-movies. So, this probably won’t be the last one I make, unfortunately.
oooh so fun! Looks like a great speech and now I wish I could hear it and sip some of that wine!
so great! and you two look SOOOO GOOODDD!!!!!!!!!!!!! meow
Ooh. Now I want to spend my future monthiversary making happy wedding GIFs and playing int he rain. Because this makes me happy.
so great! I love the expressions (and your blue shrug!)
THAT is freaking awesome. You guys look so happy and relaxed, I love it.
I am a big fan of thunderstorms. I love to hear the rain and watch the sky. Love the video it is so cool.
Dude, I couldn’t find an email for you on this dang weblog of yours so I have to leave this note here: The comment that you left on my Halloween post this weekend made me almost die of laughter. It may have helped that I read it after returning home from some drinking activities, but nonetheless, you are effing hysterical.
